Jack: An Upstander's Story
The Be-A-Friend Project does not give advice, therapy or intervention.
Our one purpose is to send letters and cards of encouragement and caring from kids to kids.
Jack's story was brought to our attention by one of our involved Be-A-Friend Project parents who shared this story that was posted on Facebook about a 3rd Grader in her town written by a grateful mom whose son was a target of bullying on the playing field.. here is the mom's post, read! We made the decision to send letters to this courageous UPstander!
Jack spoke up and we celebrated him with a "Friend Mail Blast" of Be-A-Friend Project goodies and 55 letters from three 4th and 5th grade classes. These (older) peers let Jack know they were INSPIRED, IMPRESSED and PROUD of him! Many said they would not have had the courage to do what he did and would not have known what to do in the situation... well, now they do, thanks to Jack!
